SPRING LEANING 2018
Happy Friday. The topic at hand. The Gut. Now I am not trying to scare the shit out of you but did I mention how bad being full of shit is? Cleanse anyone? Here is an other great article on what may be causing your mysterious health issues.
And that caps off Gut week,
AKA almost there day,
The question today. Is poop making you cold? Seriously. Do any close family members have an autoimmune condition? This stuff expresses it self different from person to person but the leaky gut seems to be the true culprit. Something to consider. Check out this article from Robb Wolf.com
Stop that Gut from Leaking!
I’d like to share with you an expert on all things gut. Dr. Michael Ruscio. I was trying to decide what article from his inter-web I wanted to share with you. I couldn’t decide. So today comes with a bit of an assignment. Pick an article from his inter-web that is personally connected to you then teach someone what you just learned. Share with the Facebook group or in the comments below what topic you picked and why. The what and the why sharing are optional as the gut is pretty personal.
Thank you in advance,
As the title implies this post is on the gut brain axis. Very interesting topic.
Don’t poison the little ones eh,
Happy day to all,
I hope you had a chance to give your poop a number and I hope it was a good number. Enough with the what comes out part. What do we put in? Here is a great break down of what your personal ecosystem critters might like to eat.
Robb Wolf mentioned something cool. He talks on Hypochondria. You know, the label given to folks who doctors have no idea what is going on. He breaks the word down, hypo meaning below and chondria meaning rib. What is below the ribs? You guessed it, the gut. Guess what else? Most of the mysterious conditions that doctors have difficulty with come from the gut. To all you hypochondriacs out there, maybe it’s not all in your head. Maybe it’s in your gut. What comes out of your gut? Poop!
Turn around, gaze at the logs of brown before you flush them down. Read Poop 101.
Lets recap, Habit change week, Sleep week, Stress week and now Gut week. Spring Leaning Challengers, let all the information I have provided thus far be your repairs and maintenance manual with additions in the weeks to come. To Rebels, there is the information, take it or do not, it is your health, not mine. To the Upholders, you signed up, what are you going to sacrifice to make time for all the information? To Obligers, people are counting on you to be healthy and to teach them to be healthy, do not let your people down. To Questioners, why were you living life with one cognitive arm tied behind your back? Sacrificing meaningless entertainment to learn something is a no brainer. Do you really need more irrefutable reasoning as to why you need to KNOW everything there is to know about making you healthy?
Don’t forget to plan and prep your meals,
Ok Neards and Neardettes lets get to thinking about our very own micro-biome and how we think about it. It appears to be very very important. What goes on in out gut has implications on out perception as well as myriad other body functions. Here is a very interesting paper on the topic. What a great segue from stress. We are connecting some pretty cool dots here. The gut in my opinion is the hub of heath. Make your gut healthy and you make you healthy.
I have a gut feeling this is going to be a good week,
Wednesday and Thursday were a bit scary. I remember the first time I came across this stuff. OMG! An other confounding factor working against me. Yikes! Lots to think about. Lets get back to basics. Breathing has such a profound effect on our physiology. Short shallow breathes jack up your fight or flight physiology and deep 360 degree breathes calm your body. Remember the Snickers commercial? Your chemical states matters and affects your perception. So Breathe. Properly.
Thursday is here!
How are we all doing? Sorry for being such a downer on the water bit, with all the VOC’s and plastic tea. Yuck! I am a big fan of informed consent when it comes to certain topics. While I am pushing a whole food approach to life, I ask you to consider the chemicals that are put on your produce. If we go back to Chris Kresser’s definition of stress then we must label these environmental factors as big time stressors. Here is a great article from the Environmental Working Group on the Clean 15 and the Dirty Dozen to give you informed consent.
Have a toxic free life,
Happy Hump Day!
Are we putting the information provided to good use yet? I hope so. I hope you are all feeling extra zen and less like a lioness is stocking you in your day to day lives. Here is one of the craziest make or break stressors I know about. Remember the hint I gave on Science Saturday? If you guessed water, you are dead on. Give a listen to what Shawn Stevenson TMHS has to say about water.
Happy Hump Day Hydration,
Good day folks,
I am a huge fan of self reflection and cognitive behavioural therapy. CBT makes you change your perception thus changing your physiology to a state that doesn’t feel like you are about to go to war with the tribe over the hill. Rather, you reframe your perception and change your physiology to feel like you are about to have a potluck with the tribe over the hill. If you are experience the impending doom feeling for too long you get sick. It is as simple as that. Of course it varies from person to person but mark my words. Perception is a BIG DEAL. Here is another great article from Chris Kresser.
Good things to you,
Remember yesterday’s post? I gave a two definitions of stress. I plucked those out of a really good article by Chris Kresser on effects of stress and stress management. Chris Kresser also has an ebook you can down load at the top of the article’s page, 9 Steps to Perfect Health is name of the ebook, it is a great free resource. I love free ebooks.
