I have 2 questions for you:

  1. Have you ever taken CPR or a first aid course?
  2. Have you ever taken swimming lessons?

If you answered yes to one or both, you probably did it to be safer in your jobs and lives right? Maybe you wanted these skills to help others, too?

This type of training has been touted by governments, schools etc and rightly so. We should know the basic skills to help ourselves and others if the need arises, even though we most likely (and hopefully) will never need to.

So, here are a couple more questions:

1) Have you ever taken a Self Defense course?
2) If the answer is no… then why not?

Protecting yourself or a loved one should be a pretty important thing to know, right? Why is it that this type of training is overlooked? I suggest we treat Self Defense like we do swimming or CPR. These are all basic skills that every human should know just in case the unthinkable happens.

If you have taken a Self Defense course, that’s great! Are you confident that the skills you’ve learned will be effective? Have you ever tested them in real time with real aggression? Our upcoming Safe for Summer: On-Ramp to Self Defense course will help you with this.

We will cover detection and awareness, de-escalation and avoidance, fear management, and a simple arsenal of physical tools that can be accessed in an adrenal state.

In our three-part On-Ramp to Self Defense course we will learn some of these basic skills and, if time permits, test them out in a scenario-based environment. Each 1-hour class will include skills practice and a Self Defense style WOD that will get the adrenaline flowing. You can come to all three classes or just come to one and be a bit safer than you were before.

CrossFitters train for the unknown and unknowable and to be generally physically prepared, so why not enhance these attributes by empowering yourself with skills that will make you and your loved ones safer?

Functional fitness and functional self-defense…. Sounds like a good mix, don’t you agree?
