We are excited to announce that starting next Monday, November 13th, Kathryn will be teaching a 60 minute Yin Yoga class at 5PM at CrossFit Winnipeg. One of the projects we completed during our summer renovations was to update the floors and expand the yoga room. We’ll be offering this class for 5 weeks as an introduction to Yin Yoga and we hope to expand our yoga offerings in the new year. For the coming 5 weeks, this class will be included as part of your CrossFit membership, but as we expand in the new year, we’ll be asking participants to sign up for sessions of 6 to 8 weeks at a time so that you can reap the benefits of a consistent, progressive practice. Please come and try out a class and send us some feedback on what you’d like to see in the class and what time slots you’d like to see in the new year. You can book your class using the Zen Planner app or click HERE to see the schedule online.

About Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga, as described in Wikipedia, is is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures, or asanas, that are held for longer periods of time—for beginners, it may range from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more. Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. A more meditative approach to yoga, yin aims at cultivating awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality. This is the perfect balance to the Yang of our CrossFit practice and gives our members the opportunity to slow down a bit, while practicing mindful self-care.  It’s a great tool for recovery, mobility and maintenance.
