In past years, we had specially developed a performance based scoring system for FrostFit, but for this year’s team competition, we’ve opted for a simpler scoring method.
Rankings Per Event
Teams will receive point rankings for each event. First place gets 1 point, second place gets 2 points, third place gets 3 points, etc. The team with the least amount of points overall will win.
Ties will be handled as follows:
If 2 or more players tie in an event they will equally share the total points that they would have earned if they had not tied.
1st and 2nd tie : 1st would have gotten 1 point and 2nd would have gotten 2 points. Since they are tied they share the total points (2+1)/2 = 1.5 each.
16th 17th and 18th tie : they would have gotten (16+17+18) = 51. Since they are tied they share the total points (51/3) = 17 each.
The reasoning behind this is that finishing 1st alone is clearly better than finishing tied for 1st with someone else and this distributes the overall available points more fairly.
Due to some workouts being longer and more involved than others, the workouts will be weighted. This also ensures that the competition is scored evenly on all aspects of fitness, from strength, to gymnastics, to skills and conditioning, This means that the ranking for each workout will be multiplied by the weight of that workout and the final winners will still be the team with the least number of points overall.
For event #1, competitors will be ranked by max weight cleaned twice. Competitors can then earn partial points for cleaning the bar only once, and additional partial points for deadlifting a bar they are not able to clean. See event for details. This event is worth 20% of the final score.
Event #2 will be scored as 3 separate workouts, and the athlete will be ranked according to number of reps completed. Each of the 3 parts of event 2 counts for 6% of the final score.
Event #3 is is for time. Teams will be ranked according to time it takes to complete the workout. Any teams not completing the workout within the time cap will have 1 second added on to their score for each rep not completed within the time cap. This event is worth 10% of the final score.
Event #4 will be scored as a single event, based on time. Teams will be ranked according to time it takes to complete the workout. Any teams not completing the workout within the time cap will have 1 second added on to their score for each rep not completed within the time cap. This event will count as 20% of final score.
Event #5 will be for the top 12 teams in each division and will be based on number of reps completed. This event is worth 20% of the final score for those teams competing in that event.
Event #6 will be for the top 4 teams in each division and will be based on time. All teams will complete the workout and receive a score for their time. This event is worth 20% of the final score for those teams competing in that event.
You will note that the second day’s events are worth slightly more than the first day’s events. This is partly because the workouts on Sunday are longer, but also to ensure that good recovery skills are rewarded. It is also designed to make the semi final and final events more fun to watch from a spectator’s perspective, giving the athletes who are trailing a chance to catch up to the leader.
Please note that the heat schedule for Sunday will be released Saturday evening, so that we can reseed for the fourth workout once the results are in. For Event #4 Women’s Novice will go first, followed by Men’s Novice, followed by Rx Women and finally Rx men.
