“Lumberjack George”

This event is inspired by the “Lumberjack George” event, from the inaugural FrostFit Games.

For time, with a 6 minute time cap:

800M row for men /700M row for women

30 Overhead Squats

There will be one C2 and one barbell per team. Each team member must row at least 300M and do at least 10 overhead squats. If an athlete does not complete their minimum requirement, they will need to continue rowing or squatting to complete their reps, even if this results in more than 800M or more than 30 squats. There is no requirement to tag off, however, one athlete must hold barbell in front rack position while the team mate rows. If the athlete responsible for holding the barbell loses position or drops the bar, the team will be assigned a 5 burpee penalty and the judge will ask the rower to stop rowing until the bar is re-racked. The burpees will be bar facing burpees over their barbell and must be completed after the row but before moving on to the overhead squats. If the bar is dropped and a penalty is issued, the bar must be re-racked within 10 seconds.  If the bar is not re-racked within 10 seconds, the judge will issue an additional 5 burpee penalty, and once again ask the athlete who is rowing to stop rowing until the bar is re-racked. Although athletes do not need to tag off for this workout, the athlete who is rowing must be completely off the C2 before the athlete carrying the barbell can lower the barbell and then get on to the C2. The athlete carrying the barbell may not simply hand the barbell to their partner, they must put the barbell down on the floor in a controlled manner before the other athlete can take over. There will be no squat rack so athletes must snatch or clean & jerk the barbell overhead before starting the overhead squats.

Novice

Saturday 12:30PM to 1:30PM (Movement Standards from 12:15 to 12:30)

Men: 75lbs

Women: 55lbs

Rx

Saturday 5:30PM to 6:30PM (Movement Standards from 5:15 to 5:30)

Men: 115lbs

Women: 75lbs

Scoring

Teams will be scored according to the time it takes to complete the workout. If a team is has not completed all reps within the 6 minutes, 1 second will be added to their time for each rep not completed. If the bar is dropped from the rack position as indicated above, there will be no penalty in the scoring but the teams will lose time due to the required penalty burpees.

Movement Standards

Rowing

The athlete may set their choice of damper setting when they get on rower. No touching the paddle until “go.” The first rower is free to get off the rower after completing their portion of the row, minimum of 300M.  The athlete must place the handlebar back in the cradle  and get off the rower before the partner can release the barbell.

Overhead Squat

In the overhead squat, the barbell must be kept overhead while squatting. At the bottom, the crease of the hips must clearly pass below the height of the kneecap. If in doubt judges will be instructed to no rep. At the top, the knees and hips must be completely open with the barbell locked out and directly over the body. Racks will not be available to athletes must snatch or clean and jerk the bar to get it into the overhead start position.

Bar Facing Burpee

Each burpee must be performed perpendicular to and facing the barbell. The head cannot be over the barbell. The chest and thighs touch the ground at the bottom. Athletes must jump over the barbell from both feet and land on both feet. One-footed jumping or stepping over is not permitted. The next rep will then begin on the opposite side facing the barbell.
